ABOUT LORI
What I love most about narrating is telling the story,- finding how I can best bring that story forth with passion and integrity to the words written. I never anticipated becoming an actor, but I love how characters and stories find territory in me and demand expression. I am particularly drawn to Historical and Literary Fiction, with a good dose of Fantasy and/or SciFi along the lines of stories based on mythologies or legends- think Arthurian Romance or modern retelling of Tam Lin faery tales.

Other genres of interest are YA dystopian, as well as youth coming-of-age stories, and fairly clean RomCom. With voice qualities also described as spritely, whimsical and vivacious, I am able to voice pretty much all ages. However, I am particularly interested in giving a voice to older female protagonists/heroines and to bring empowerment back to this oft-times forgotten and disenfranchised generation of our population by the current culture.
Being a young spirit in a mature body, I have had several long careers in various fields: I spent many years as a pastry chef; as well as a long, and extensive calling to be of service in the Health and Wellness fields later in life. Devotion to my yoga and meditation practice led to furthering in-depth training to teach Yoga and facilitate Yoga Nidra, as well as eventually training in the hands-on practices of Thai Yoga, Yoga Body Psychology (a form of therapeutic mind/bodywork), as well as CranioSacral Therapy. Along the way I also delved into Shamanism, and connected to Reiki and other energy healing practices. In turn, these skills led me back to returning to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant, where I was able to use both Eastern and Western modalities to best help my patients and clients improve their quality of living.
Spirituality is important to me. I respect but am not confined by the bounds of any one religion, my native Catholicism having made space for the many facets of the Divine; perceiving universality though multicultural as well as historical and archeological contexts. My calming Yoga teacher voice is particularly well suited to Yogic and other Spiritual texts, scientific literature, how-to guides, and travelogues.
Outside the booth and off the mat- other areas of interest include lots of walking, both cityscape and nature. I enjoy making and viewing art and dance. I enjoy taking acting, voice and dialect classes in support of my storytelling obsession. I love to spend time with my family, and have also been known to binge watch series such as The Expanse, Outlander, Longmire, and Bosch to name a few. And football. YouTube taught me, (well, quite honestly mostly taught my husband – and I helped) how to build out our ProMaster van into a comfy stealth camper with which we explore our way across North America.
I relish the deep dive into the material to bring the author’s vision to life through the perception of listening. I love to explore, travel, and bake. And practice yoga, often infused with elements of Chi Gong and Pilates. Did I mention that reading books (and listening to them) is a deeply ingrained compulsion?
